‘You’re never less than happy to be there, watching Mr. Harrell and his ever-changing crew say yes to everything’
NY Times

What happens when social dance meets the avant‐garde? That is, what would have happened if in the 1960s the voguing tradition of the Harlem dance halls, practiced by African‐American homosexuals and transsexuals, had come across the postmodern choreography, stripped of all artificiality, of New York’s Judson Church? Performed in Italy for the first time, (M)IMOSA / Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church (M) is a seductive and subversive four‐way choreographic collaboration between Cecilia Bengolea, François Chaignaud, two of the most powerful and transgressive choreographers of today’s French scene, Marlene Monteiro Freitas and Trajal Harrell. These four artistic voices stage their collective experiences and personal journeys in order to reflect on the distance between contemporary yet separate realities, on the discrepancy between inspiration and finished work and between what they portend and what they perform. (M)IMOSA is part of Harrell’s series Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church.
